Happy #Pride month
What a year of turmoil 2020 has proven to be (and continues to be). With everything going on in the world right now it seems somewhat odd to be celebrating anything at all. However we believe it's important to celebrate and commemorate those in the LGBTQ+ community who came before us to fight similar battles of justice and equality to those currently unfolding in the United States. The Stonewall riots in 1969 and the Sydney Mardi Gras protests of 1978 marked monumental moments in the modern-day LGBTQ+ rights movement.
Each year since the Stonewall riots, people around the world have come together to celebrate Pride so in the spirit of the Pride festivities, the team at Smithers Swimwear have put together a unique print to share with you for Pride 2020.
We're excited to introduce our rainbow "Rebound" print! It's bold, bright and colourful taking inspiration from the rainbow flag. Not only is a rainbow symbolic of the LGBTQ+ community, there is a deeper meaning behind each of the colours on the flag which we have incorporated into the Rebound design:

- Nature | Green
- Harmony/Peace | Blue
- Spirit | Purple/Violet
We recognise that the past few months have been difficult and dispiriting. The hardships of the COVID 19 pandemic has been compounded by tragic reminders that inequality still exists. We hope that our rainbow #Rebound print brings a sense of hope and optimism as we slowly return to life as we knew it.
